Being a father is a real test of humanity. The ungrateful yet highly dependent baby, takes everything a man has, yet the father gives.
My father did the same for me. So did his father and back to the origin of human life.
Time, testosterone and money are lost. But relationship with the spouse is also lost. It’s natural. If you try to fight these losses you will suffer and lose the little peace you have and decrease any chance of getting anything back.
