Salesmanship: the secret

I had to train college students on salesmanship.  But they took it like a normal subject like accounts or anthropology.  I wanted them to take it more seriously than that.  So i taught them in a different way.

I asked them:

1.  Did you ever fall in love?

2.  Do you wish you could love forever? Without the hassles of commiting to only one person?

3.  Do you want to hear “YEs, i love you.”?

4.  Do you wish the passion, heat, desire that you experienced while in love, never dried out?

5.  Do you want to have hundreds and thousands of love affairs minus the troubles and problems romantic relationships bring?

Well then choose salesmanship.  It is a spirit in which you woo customers, attract them to you, make them say, “Yes, i buy you.” It can be as intoxicating as winning a person’s heart.

In addition while love can be done for one person and is expected accordingly, sales can be done to infinite people and it is expected as such.

In addition if you have more than one love, you lose social status.  But in sales you gain recognition the more clients you have.

A to Z

you would not sell anything if you did not know its features, functions and benefits but when we go to sell the most important thing in our life that is ourselves in interviews we dont go having known ourselves.

Know you strengths and weaknesses, and much more.

What makes a relationship in sales?

it is not just price or credit facility.  it is also quality of service or product, good behavior, goodwill, references.  But the most important thing should be uniqueness.

Debate

there will always be a debate between ethics and making a sale in salesmanship.  Learn to live with it.

Finally always be ready with a sales pitch or a 2 min presentation about you just in case you meet your next billionaire potential employer in a lift.
