Thinking like the richest man in the world

Even the world’s richest man can’t afford everything. Lets imagine, I met Bill Gates and I proposed him to give me a thousand dollar to buy a certain product that I would think is useful to him but he’d not be convinced. So how would he reject this offer?

Most likely he’d say he doesn’t want it and if I pushed him further he’d spend a few thousand dollars to keep me from ever meeting him.

But my point is that if anyone claims to be the richest, richer or just rich, why don’t they allocate a budget to spend on new things just to encourage others?

Ok lets say Gates bought my product but what would he do with it since he knows he doesn’t need it?

voila! This is a limitation of wealth. You can buy stuff but you can’t buy need.

Now lets say I propose Bill to give me 1 billion dollar (yes you read correctly) to fund my investment firm which will in turn invest in a developing nation like Nepal, in thousands of companies. This financing would be different from banks & private investors as my investment firm would also provide the whole spectrum of management consulting. It would be different from conventional venture capital in that I am a management consultant whose found the DNA of organizational success and understand the best way to help entrepreneurs succeed is to have a stake in the company. Now my salary has always been at stake but if I had a billion dollar fund to invest, the face of Nepal would change totally into a ” first world ofthe second degree” under my management style.

I bring in the term “first world ofthe second degree” to refer to a nation that is rich without having to decrease happiness level, social stability, family values and without increasing unhealthy consumerism & materialism.

This investment firm will have major equity in a management consulting firm that would lead the entrepreneurs or CEO’s in invested companies.

So would Bill Gates give me that 1 billion dollar ?

If he could buy the true information about me, he would invest in my firm. But money can’t buy that kind of information. May be he could fly me to his office for a week long interview. But how would he buy the inner calling needed to differentiate me from a crook?

Indeed money, even large amounts of money have limits. So it gives me solace that I am not a billionaire yet, but I think like the richest man in the world. It means to be able to change the world like it’s true CEO.
