Blog promotion strategy

I was wondering how could I attract more viewers for my blog. Then I considered using blog engines/softwares or promoting myself I spamming. Then a flash came in my mind. It was a thread.

Facebook grew from a very long threads than from millions of short threads.

Long threads means that after one person uses the service/product, he refers it to another, then she to another, and so on until very large numbers are achieved. This is possible because the product/service has a very high common factor (HCF) which is the ability to get to know people you know or expand and play in one’s comfort zone, all the time, in the case of facebook and in case of google, easiness to search.

Short thread means that the product/service has a low or medium HCF. As a result people once having used it will not refer it to others. So the chain stops here. Such a product will need heavy advertizing and selling on a contiunual basis. However if one is able to clarify the HCF to users, then the short thread can become a longer thread.

You can thus have one single 1 million meter long thread or 1 million 1 meter short threads. Of course the option 1 is what we want. But it is hard to come up with a product that is so contagious.

Same with my blog. I wish it was a wilde forest fire like facebook and google, but it lacks the HCF so that the threads can be very long.

So I should make many short threads. Yes, but I don’t know how yet. Mostly I believe that I should focus on improving my product that is the blog so that it has
• more appeal to more people
• makes readers feel inspired to spread the link
• give reasons for readers to come back

Well that is my strategy for this blog. I can afford this long term strategy because my cost are so low. If I was pressured, then I would go with the numerous short threads strategy without improving on the product and increasing its’ HCF.
