The modern letter in bottle at sea

In the times of ancients, lost at sea or lost in hope people used to put a letter in a bottle, throw it in the sea. There was a hope that someone somewhere somehow would find it and respond.
The modern version are blogs like this one.
It’s a consolation that you’re being published and your work is being distributed to the entire world. wasn’t it what publishing was ask about before promotion and marketing were part of publishing?
It’s a romantic idea that I write something and that someone far away whom I will never meet would read one of my blogs, enjoy it, learn from it, transform as a result of it and share it to others.
But with billions of bottles in the sea such fantasy is most likely to remain just that a wishful thought.
Sad but it’s a fact that all aspiring writers like me have to accept. technology fulfilled a dream of ours but it woke us up to a new reality.
