Equation of success

People tend to see life as an arithmetic series and a geometric series. In layman’s language it means people think doing more of the same thing that worked in the past will result in more of what is desired.
So it follows that at one time since typewriters were more and more in use, producing more of them would have made the entrepreneur richer. But then came the computer. A similar fate to the computer occurred with smartphones.
So what is the formula for success?
It is not a linear equation but a complex calculus equation. Yet I dont think it is that complex too. It is like a problem in one of IQ test that require pattern recognition and the out of box thinking. Using this even the worst calculus problems could be solved.
