1. I don’t know anything
2. I know
3. I know I don’t know
4. I know exactly what I don’t know
5. I am learning about what I don’t know and still looking out for more of what i don’t know
The most superior attitude is of course the fifth one. I have found that most young people are in level 2 of “I know”. The confused ones are at level 3. Onlyh the creative ones are at level 4. Those who are hardworking, intelligenct and dedicated can reach level 5.
Managers dealing with level 2 people will find a hard time taking them to level 4 where they belong. But if you don’t, your results will suffer.
The biggest obstacles are denial, ego and inertia.
Howeve with good couseling that provides evidence of ignorance to the staff, the shift from level 2 to level 2 to level 3 can be achieved seamlessly.
