I had a friend who wrote a great book that still after 20 years I refer to in order the understand the patterns of life, but somehow it got lost.

Glorious living by Steve Morris was the book.

It says that the purposes of life at 4:

  1. to serve
  2. to enjoy
  3. to contribute
  4. to learn

so it follows that:

  1. we want to be rich , famous and powerful by serving the community
  2. we want to be happy and enjoy the material world as well as the spiritual and other worlds while we are embodied
  3. we want to leave a legacy behind, do social work
  4. we want to gain knowledge and find the end of knowledge which never will come

This book lay the foundation of holistic living, but at that time it was too early for anyone to understand because all the above more objectives of life were never put together. Today a lot of progress as been made in the study:

  1. success
  2. happiness
  3. philanthropy
  4. knowledge

so far those in the pursuit of happiness never found success and those in the pursuit of success did not find happiness.

Pursuit of knowledge was opposite to the pursuit of success.

Philantropy was a pursuit separate from all others.
